About This Project
Create Indigenous-led Biocultural Knowledge Trusts that hold decision rights over climate, biodiversity, agricultural, medicinal, and ecological knowledge used in public programs, research, carbon projects, and adaptation finance. Each trust would be governed by community-designated custodians and would define what knowledge can be public, restricted, sacred, time-limited, licensed, anonymized, or never digitized. The trust would also receive direct climate and biodiversity finance, administer benefit-sharing agreements, approve or reject research access, and maintain a record of how knowledge is used. This is not a database with ceremonial consultation attached. It is a custody institution. The point is to stop converting ancestral knowledge into free raw material for universities, NGOs, carbon developers, patent pipelines, and government reports. Knowledge that carries climate value should carry enforceable rights, revenue, refusal power, and cultural boundaries.
