About This Project

Develop a community-based blue carbon credit program enabling coastal fishing communities to access carbon market revenue through verifiable conservation of mangroves, seagrass, and saltmarsh ecosystems they traditionally manage. Program design vests carbon rights with local communities, ensuring 60-70% of credit proceeds flow to participating households. Aggregation structures allow small community plots to achieve minimum viable credit volumes, with pilots in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Mozambique demonstrating $300-800/hectare annual income potential.
